![]() Turn west onto the wide shoulder of Highway 121/12 and begin to ascend a gradual hill, with grapes as far as you can see. Golden Gate becomes a frontage road for Highway 29 and ends with a south turn into a stand of eucalyptus trees that line Stanley Lane. Turn south on Golden Gate Drive toward the Napa C.H.P. This is the most congested portion of the journey, but fortunately it ends as you cross under Highway 29. Continue west and cross the green drawbridge over the Napa River, where a shopping center and plenty of services can be found on the west side. Imola descends gradually and passes two roadside markets before crossing Highway 121(Soscol Avenue) at mile 7.4. Skyline Park located here can be an enjoyable picnic stop. At the stop sign turn east on Coombsville Road, then turn immediately south on 4 th Avenue, which zigs and zags over three little rollers down to Imola Avenue East. Stay with 3 rd as it turns west, then south, away from North Avenue. Which passes through a vineyard at mile 3.0. Take Vichy Avenue south to the stop sign and turn east onto Hagen Road. The next six miles have some confusing turns and road name changes, so follow these directions carefully. Flying down the steep 13.5% east face of Oakville Grade is a thrilling way to reenter the Napa Valley. The views, the quiet and the forest smells make for a wonderful journey. The rolling vineyards east of Sonoma quickly give way to cool, shaded Redwood Canyon, where you climb Mt.
